Julia began her career in the media as a lowly newspaper cadet on the Sheerness Times Guardian newspaper.

Based in an office on the Isle of Sheppey (translated as island of sheep), Julia covered garden fetes, parish meetings and, of course, lots and lots of stories about sheep.

Fortunately, on one very sleepy day, a massive story broke and Julia got her first taste of working with the best of Fleet Street.

Swiftly leaving behind the island, Julia moved onto a daily regional newspaper in northern England. Gone were the quaint fetes and in their place were drug addicts and prostitutes. Not a sheep in sight.

A year later and it was back to Fleet Street where she was picked up by the Daily Mail — one of the UK's biggest selling newspapers.

Almost two years later, after doing the rounds of both news and showbiz, Julia moved onto perhaps one of the best known papers on the planet, the News of the World.

Here she covered sex scandals, royals behaving badly and celebrities getting caught out on a weekly basis. There was a serious side too, the paper's decision to name and shame paedophiles, the chance to cover one of the England's biggest murder investigations and exposing one very bogus and dangerous doctor.

Then Julia caught the travelling bug, packed her bags and ended up in Sydney where she knocked on the door of 60 Minutes.

Three years later she's looking forward to a time when her days of researching stories are rewarded with actually going out and filming the story and travelling to far-flung corners of the globe.
